The Best Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Wayfarer

5

What is Ray-Ban synonymous with? Class? Prestige? Style? Yes, but that’s still barely scratching the surface (or lens). Ray-Ban has much more to it than just aesthetic appeal, so it’s more than just a pair of your everyday sunglasses. It has so much star power and a celebrated history it could even rival many of the icons at Hollywood. As a matter of fact, Ray-Ban has been a constant and favorite part of the illustrious careers of these icons.

The late, great Mohammed Ali, the legendary Elvis Costello, the ever-famous Bob Dylan, the impossibly talented Leonardo DiCaprio, all these men had two things in common: They were the best among their peers, and none of them were strangers to Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

One of a Kind from Day One

The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is older than most of the men and women it decorates. 1956 was the year it saw birth. These glasses were the brainchild of Raymond Stegeman, a designer who dared to try something new and different.

He utilized acetate in making the Wayfarers, then made the arms very sturdy and adopted a trapezoidal shape for the frames. The result was an instant hit in the era; and now almost a century later, his design is still going strong. Suffice to sayRaymond’s vision to change the fashion world paid off more than anyone ever expected it would.

What’s a Ray-Ban Like?

They’re excellent. Simple as that. Ray-Ban Wayfarers were designed in a way that gives them the flexibility to suit most faces. They accommodate virtually any face shape, particularly those having round or oval faces.

What would any Ray-Ban sunglasses be without that signature Ray-Ban logo written in cursive? The Ray-Ban Wayfarer shows this off on its sculpted templates, and even at 54mm, it doesn’t trade size for beauty. Little else needs to be said about why the Ray-Ban Wayfarer is the choice fashion accessory for musicians, celebrities, artists and everyday people.

The Best of the Best

Speaking of the Ray-Ban Wayfarer’s features, the best of them is how it fits and flatters the face, made possible by the square frame. This, of course, means the Wayfarerisn’t limited to particular face shapes. With the myriad of available sizes to choose from an impressive customization option, there’s something for everybody.

Being sunglasses and all, UV protection is also something to highlight. The Ray-Ban Wayfarers glasses are non-polarized and have 100% UV protection coating. Even though these lenses are plastic, they help mitigate eye strain for the wearer once outdoors. Simply put, they can accommodate both bight and hazy days.

It’s Well Worth the Price

We’ll be honest: There’s no model of Ray-Ban out there that’s cheap, and the Wayfarer is no exception. Then again, you opt for Ray-Ban sunglasses because you seek authenticity, don’t you? And to get that, you have to shell out more than you would for most other sunglasses.

Prices of the Wayfarer mostly range from $100 upwards, so it’s not an accessory for those reluctant to spend cash on fashion. The Wayfarer Classic costs $203; the New Wayfarer Classic just under that at $193, and the Original Wayfarer Classic comes cheaper at $153.

Though these might seem expensive, for what you have to pay, you get more than your money’s worth. We can guarantee you that.

Ray-Ban has been with us for nearly a hundred years. That’s a number many of its peers never attained. If the success and popularity of these sunglasses are anything to go by, then it won’t be folly to say the Ray-Ban will still be here for a few hundred years more.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
